Mia Charity
Chief External Affairs Officer @Close Up Foundation
Mia Charity is responsible for the Close Up Foundation's fundraising, government relations, and communication efforts. Her work helps support the Foundation's priority to serve students and teachers from all backgrounds, including those from underrepresented and economically-disadvantaged communities. Before her current role, she managed Close Up’s outreach efforts and worked with teachers and schools across the country to participate in Close Up programs.
Jessica Gail
Communications Director @Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-15)
Jessica Gail currently serves as the Communications Director for Representative Eric Swalwell’s from California’s 15th Congressional District. Prior to this role she worked for the government and civic platform A Starting Point as well as on the Hill in other capacities. Prior to coming to Washington, DC she was a reporter in Utah and has a degree in journalism from Indiana University Bloomington.
Alex Huang
Deputy Chief of Staff @Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12)
Alex is currently the Deputy Chief of Staff & Legislative Director for Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman representing New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District. In this capacity, he serves as a senior advisor to congresswoman, manages the legislative staff, and is responsible for developing and implementing her policy agenda. Previously, Alex was the Director of Programs and Community Engagement at the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS), working to build a diverse pipeline of elected officials and public servants. Prior to APAICS, he worked for two Members of Congress from Michigan and California and started his career as a second grade teacher in Detroit. He sits as a Board Member of the Grassroots Education Project, APAICS Alumni Association, and the Congressional Asian Pacific American Staff Association. He is an alumni of the University of Michigan and is originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Dr. Danielle King
Johnson & Johnson Health Fellow @Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-7)
Dr. Danielle King’s public health career focuses on low-income and minority populations. With her focus on domestic and international health policy interventions, she worked with the State of Kentucky and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention to reduce HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C prevalence rates in Eastern Kentucky. Dr. King’s career trajectory changed on the morning of September 16, 2018, when Sheldon, her oldest brother, succumbed to gun violence by his white assailant. Consequently, as a Doctor of Law and Policy at Northeastern University, her original research, interrogating the social contexts which precipitated Sheldon’s death, can be translated into policy proposals/recommendations for effective gun policy. Dr. King has national recognition from the United Health Louis Stokes Health Scholars Program, through the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and Northeastern University’s Full Circle Scholarships.
Rebecca Angelson
Deputy Chief of Staff @Rep. Bob Latta (OH-5)
Rebecca graduated from Boston College and began her career on Capitol Hill as an intern in 2014, with then Speaker John Boehner. She quickly transitioned over to be the executive assistant for the Staff Director at the Energy and Commerce Committee (E&C) under Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI). After deciding to pursue a career in communications and press, Rebecca became Assistant Press Secretary for E&C where she focused on communicating telecommunications and health policies, including the 21st Century Cures Act, which was signed into law in 2016. Following almost three years at E&C, Rebecca joined the office of Congresswoman Susan Brooks (R-IN) to support the Congresswoman’s communications goals. Within a year, Rebecca became the Congresswoman’s Communications Director After serving the people of Indiana’s Fifth District for more than two and a half years, Rebecca joined the office of Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH) and currently serves as his Deputy Chief of Staff.
